Meet Lauren Auwood, LMFT
Hi! I’m Lauren (she/her)…
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) and I have advanced training in perinatal mental health & maternal wellness. I also have expertise in understanding family dynamics.
I grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. After working in the non-profit arena for a few years, I went on to complete my Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Saint Joseph in 2016. I became licensed in 2017 and after moving to Massachusetts in 2019 I started my private practice. I’m licensed to practice in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Florida, and I now live in Southwest Florida with my husband and two sons.
Let’s Get Down to the nitty gritty, huh?
I became a mom in 2017 and was ROCKED by the impact of the transition into motherhood. I remember saying that first year felt like, “the most painful, beautiful experience of my life”. The days were long, and that first year felt LONG. I wished someone had prepared me more for the emotional and mental transformation of the perinatal period, so I quickly set out to do just that through my work.
I help women who are navigating life transitions, specifically ones around motherhood. Whether you’re debating on having children, experiencing fertility challenges, grieving losses (pregnancy related or relationships) reconnecting with yourself, or finding healthy work/life balance, I’m here to support you.
I believe there is empowerment in knowing what works and what doesn’t work for our mental and emotional health and well-being. I believe there is healing in sharing our stories, our pain, and our triumphs. I believe in compassion and humor. I believe in authenticity and imperfection. I will hold space for you and support you as you make sense of your story; writing a new one as we work together.
My hope is that you find our experience together to be one that includes compassion and warmth. The work we will do together won’t always be comfortable or easy, but there is no change without discomfort and I will be here to support you as you grow.
